Get committed to the future of Australian farming
Introducing the VFF Scholarship Fund
In recognising the importance of helping and encouraging our young people to develop an interest and pursue a career in farming and agriculture, we'd like to announce the establishment of the VFF Scholarship Fund. A perpetual $10 million scholarship fund that will award scholarships and support to almost 1,000 young people each year to explore and pursue their dreams of a career in farming.
The upcoming generation need every opportunity to excel, gain the necessary skills and experience, and exposure to new and emerging technologies if they and Australia are to meet the challenges of the future - to retain their competitiveness and the future of food and fibre security.
Think of the incredible aid it could provide to help lift and support the ongoing education of children of farmers when families are battered by severe drought, flood or bushfire. Even so, those that know the farming way of life count ourselves as richly blessed. To that end, perhaps each of us can help put a little back, in order to help secure tomorrows farming future.
Interest alone will fund the scholarships
We are calling for members to help establish an endowment fund, which from the interest would finance scholarships for worthy young people committed to a farming future.
I know it's a bold ask, a big vision, but together we believe we can genuinely reach our $10M target. The annual interest from $10 million at prevailing rates (~6%) would be $600,000. The desire is that provision for scholarships be extended to tertiary students, apprentices, high schools, and primary school aged children.
Just think of the good an endowment of this size can achieve - each and every year :-
Institution | Number/value (Estimate only) | Total value (Estimate only) |
| Tertiary/TAFE/apprentices | 50 x $5,000 & 50 x $2,500 | $250,000 $125,000 |
| High School students | 500 X $250 | $125,000 |
| Primary School students | 250 X $100 | $25,000 |
| TOTAL | $525,000 |

The fund will be governed independently from the VFF by three persons approved by the Australian Taxation office. The VFF is in the final stage of processing an application with the Australian Taxation office which will see all donations to the VFF Scholarship Fund tax deductible.
It is our hope that all details will be finalised in the coming months and together we can achieve something that will have generational impact on the very food and fibre of the world.

“People are our greatest natural resource and the VFF is the best organisation to entrust this kind of donation with. The best way to ensure and protect Australia's future food supply is to invest in the people that grow the food.”
- Andrew Broad, VFF President.
