The Victorian Farmers' Federation Chicken Meat Group set up the ‘Rural Industries Co-operative Limited' (RICL) to enable members to access cheaper gas rates. The VFF Chicken Meat Group has established bulk gas buying arrangements with Elgas, through RICL. Presently members across a range of VFF commodities are enjoying cheaper gas through RICL.
To become a member of RICL and be eligible for discounted gas prices there are a number of prerequisites;
- You must be a financial VFF member of the commodity for which you are using the gas
- You must have a contract with Elgas
- You must be a bulk user, with a tank size of at least 1 tonne (2,000 litres)
- You must use the gas for agricultural purposes
- You must have accessibility to your tanks
- You must purchase 10 shares @ $1 each
