Young dairy leaders urged to apply for NZ Study Tour

Wednesday 9 September, 2015

The United Dairyfarmers of Victoria (UDV) is urging all young dairy leaders to apply for the New Zealand Study Tour.

Fully funded by the Gardiner Dairy Foundation, the study tour takes Victoria’s best young industry minds to New Zealand in February next year for an eight day tour.

“I encourage all young dairy farmers and those employed in the industry to apply for this fantastic tour,” UDV Manager Vin Delahunty said.
“It is a great opportunity for someone who is seeking more skills and knowledge to take on leadership roles in the industry.

“This year’s participants have really stepped up in the industry and shown what a difference the tour can make to a young person’s career.”

Aaron Thomas, a dairy farmer from Binginwarri, is one participant who has taken the opportunities the NZ Study Tour offered to advance his career.

He has recently taken on the position of President of the Yarram branch of the UDV, along with fellow participant Hayden Hanratty who is now treasurer/secretary.

“The NZ trip is probably the best thing I’ve done in my career, it sparked me up and got me really passionate about making a difference in the industry,” Aaron said.
