Bright, Yarra Valley & High Country VIC (Remote)
Farm Management (Farming, Animals & Conservation)
$90,000 – $110,000 per year
Farm Business Support Officer (Regional VIC)
Help Victorian farmers strengthen their businesses.
Recent drought conditions have placed real pressure on farming families across Victoria.
We’re looking for someone to work in a new service that connects farmers with support that’s right for them – whether that’s government programs, industry assistance, hardship provisions, or charitable support. You won’t be providing financial advice; you’ll be helping people navigate a complex landscape to help find their way to the right doors.
About the role
The Farm Business Support Officer is the front-line delivery role for the VFF’s Financial Capability Service — a government-funded program supporting drought-affected farming families across Victoria. This role takes information and support directly into farming communities, helping farmers understand and access the range of support options available to them.
Through proactive outreach at regional events, field days, and industry gatherings, the Officer will engage with farmers who may be unaware of available assistance or reluctant to seek help through traditional channels. The role focuses on building trusted relationships, providing practical information, and connecting farmers with the right services for their circumstances.
This role is required to:
• Deliver proactive outreach to farming communities across regional Victoria through attendance at events, field days, and industry gatherings
• Provide information and guidance to farmers on the full range of available support options across government, industry, and community sectors
• Triage farmer enquiries and connect them with the most appropriate services for their circumstances
• Build trusted relationships with farmers, positioning the service as accessible and non-judgmental
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of financial support programs, eligibility criteria, and application processes
• Contribute to the development of educational resources and materials
• Maintain accurate records of farmer contacts, support provided, and referrals made
The role is ideally based in regional Victoria with regular travel to regional events and stakeholder meetings.
What we’re looking for
You don’t need to be a financial counsellor, but an understanding of farm businesses (or experience working with farmers) will help you hit the ground running. What matters most is that you:
• Genuinely care about strengthening family farms
• Build relationships easily with farmers, government stakeholders, and partner organizations alike
• Learn quickly to get across a wide range of support programs and keep that knowledge current
• Deliver high-quality, farmer-centered support services across regional Victoria
• Work collaboratively with the Farm Business Support Manager to achieve project objectives and targets
• Attend regional farming events, field days, agricultural shows, and industry gatherings to engage with farmers.
About the VFF
The Victorian Farmers Federation is the voice of Victorian agriculture. For over 45 years, we’ve advocated for farming families and delivered programs that strengthen rural communities. We’re a member-driven organization that is deeply committed to listening to and serving our members.
This service will be available to all Victorian farmers, not just VFF members.
What we offer
• A role that can be based anywhere in regional Victoria
• Company supplied motor vehicle
• Meaningful work that makes a real difference to farming families
• Work in a collaborative, purpose-driven team environment
• Professional development and wellbeing support
• Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
How to apply
