Farmers take to the city for National Ag Day

Victorian farmers from across the State will showcase their produce as part of National Agriculture Day at the Victorian Farmers Federation’s (VFF) Farm Shop in central Melbourne.

Held at Farrer House, 24 Collins Street, Melbourne, the VFF Farm Shop will open on Thursday 20 November (12–5PM) and Friday 21 November (9AM–3PM), showcasing the very best of Victoria’s local producers.

Stallholders feature a curated selection of Victorian Farmers Market Association (VFMA) Accredited Producers, among them, the proud Victorian representatives at the FAO’s Global Exhibition in Rome, held to launch the World Food Forum 2025.

Visitors can taste, shop and support regional Victorian farm produce, with stalls offering award-winning cheeses, honey, artisanal wines and craft spirits, beef, butter, fruit, vegetables, lamb, salami and more, all grown and made and crafted by producers recognised at the Australian Fine Food Awards, Royal Shows, Olive Awards, and Melbourne Food & Wine Awards 2025.

Attendees can also help support farmers doing it tough. All donations made to the VFF Disaster Relief Fund in the shop during the day will go directly towards assisting farming communities impacted by drought and natural disasters.

Every donation of just $10 or more earns a free tote bag to fill with farm-fresh treats from local stallholders. Donors will also go in the draw to win a special prize proudly provided by the Victorian Farmers’ Markets Association and participating vendors.

VFF President Brett Hosking urged Melburnians to visit and sample some of the world-class produce from Victorian farmers and support them through trying times.

“We’re still in the grips of one of the worst droughts in living memory and so many farmers are doing it tough.  Despite this our farmers have continued to produce some of the best food and fibre products in the nation and the VFF Farm Shop is your opportunity to enjoy a taste of those products straight from those who produce it”

“The theme this AgDay is ‘Stand with the Land’ and what better way to support farmers than to snap up some of our world-leading food and fibre made right here in Victoria.”

“It’s a showcase of our industry and how good would it be to back our local farmers in, by filling the Farm Shop,” Mr Hosking said.

VFMA Executive Officer Sarah Parker said, “this is a celebration of Victoria’s exceptional producers, the farmers, makers, and growers whose dedication to quality has earned State, National and international acclaim.”

“From medal-winning cheeses and golden olive oils to honey voted best in Victoria, handcrafted gin, pasture-raised meats, and vibrant seasonal produce, it’s the best of our farms brought together for Melbourne to see, taste, and take home.”

“Every item tells a story of local pride, sustainability, and excellence. There’s something for everyone, and every purchase supports the farmers who nourish our communities,” Ms Parker said.

Come and see, taste, buy and celebrate Victoria’s primary producers, our food heritage, and global leadership in farm production.
