  • Assessing land capability (soil, water, infrastructure, climate and vegetation)
  • Theory behind low stress handling
  • Practical demo of low stress handling and how to isolate an animal for treatment
  • New Biosecurity Signage and how this protects you

About Christine Gorman (Calmer Farmer Consulting)

Christine is a hobby farm tailored advisor who is a third-generation hobby farmer based in Hastings. She actively manages 50 acres of livestock including dairy goats, Dorper sheep and beef cattle with her father. She completed a Diploma in Agriculture to further her own knowledge and has since helped many new hobby farmers to improve the land they live on!

Christine will be speaking on risks and opportunities across key management areas of your farm. She will present how to assess your stock and land capability, the right infrastructure for livestock and soil testing for pasture and feed.

About Jack Briscoe (Futura Kelpies)

Originally from Melbourne, has been in Ag for over 30 years. He is a Kelpie and Border Collie working dogs breeder for over 20 years, that also exports overseas. Jack has been providing stock handling demonstrations for the same amount of time.

Jack has his own farm with his wife and two daughters but he started off showing Hereford Cattle and working on a large sheep station. He then started his own livestock contracting business, travelling mainly around Victoria, South Australia and southern NSW.

He is a very experienced livestock handler and as some of you may have seen from previous Stock Sense events, his presentations are always engaging and informative!

Food will be provided so registration is essential!
