The countdown is on for the Victorian Farmers Federation 2018 annual conference in Ballarat on 19-20 July with farmers lining up to hear from Victoria’s political leaders.

“With four months to the State election, we are pleased to see so many farmers keen to attend the VFF Conference and hear our politicians outline their vision for Victorian agriculture,” said David Jochinke, Victorian Farmers Federation President.

“We are also thrilled to have the Hon. Tim Fischer AO, a former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia and the current chair of the Crop Trust, deliver the keynote address.

“To have an Aussie overseeing the global seed vault in Norway, where seeds from all our crops are stored, is a great achievement for Australia and highlights the importance of our contribution to global agriculture.

“Farmers attending the conference will also have the opportunity to debate key policy topics, which underpin their operating environment.

“Key areas of policy debate at the conference include farm crime, chain of responsibility, climate change and energy. I am looking forward to a lively debate kicking off on Thursday afternoon as we examine policy areas impacting our business certainty.

“Our 2018 conference is a significant event with only four months to go until the State election. The VFF is committed to ensuring that between now and 24 November, every candidate in rural and regional Victoria is aware of the needs of farmers and their communities,” said Mr Jochinke

The VFF Conference will be held at the Mercure Ballarat Hotel and Convention Centre from Thursday 19 to Friday 20 July. Members will also have the opportunity for vote for VFF office holders with the positions of President and Vice President currently open.
