About the Program
The Making our Farm Safer project is funded by Smarter, Safer Farms, a $20 million Victorian Government commitment to improve safety and skills outcomes for Victorian farmers. The Victorian Government is backing a stronger, more innovative and sustainable agriculture industry with a 10-year strategy for Agriculture.
Our aim is to deliver free farm safety tools and services that are accessible, practical and useful to all Victorian farmers to support farmer and workers’ safety, wellbeing and mental health.

Farm Safety Services
Free assistance is now available to all Victorian farmers to help you establish a simple safety process for your farm. These include:
Farm Safety Consult
During the Farm Safety Consult, our farm safety advisors will help you establish a simple OH&S process for your farm. We will work with you to formulate a farm safety plan that is specific commodity type and hazards. These include:
1. A safety induction
2. Farm rules
3. Safety policies
4. Safe work procedures
This type of consult is best suited to farmers that employs permanent and casual/ seasonal workers.

Farm Safety Walk & Talk
Farm Safety Walk & Talk is an opportunity for you and your neighbours to learn and understand your OH&S requirements in a supportive environment.
We will cover a wide range of topics, and narrow down to specific commodity potential hazards.
We encourage local farmer groups, Landcare groups, Rotary Club members to get in touch.

Health & Safety Management Systems Review
During our health & safety management systems review, our independent farm safety advisors will review your existing OH&S plan through an objective lens and help you update your OH&S plan to meet industry recommendations.
We will work with you to formulate an action plan that is tailored to your existing system and specific to your farm type and hazards.

Telehandler Safety Handbook
A Telehandler or Telescopic Handler is a versatile machine for agricultural work, but its advantages can pose serious risks if not used correctly. This Telehandler Safety Handbook has been developed by the Victorian Farmers Federation, in conjunction with the Telescopic Handler Association (TSHA), to increase awareness for farmers of the machinery’s operation and prevent accidents.
